An Artistic paradigm

Janet asked me "why is it so hard for talented artistically sensitive musicians to get ahead?"

Answer: For them rejection hurts too much.

The paradigm is this:

The more intelligent and self aware you are, and the more ownership you have of your abilities, the harder it is to accept the many vagaries and stupidities of our music profession.

Outcome: Rejection is hard.

Contra wise: The more you care about personal ambition, and the less you will care about your music, the more you will be able to accept the many vagaries and stupidities of our music profession. Its a game to be played to win.

Outcome: Rejection is easy.

Of course luck also enters into these equations.

Most of us have too slog however.
